Outdoor Play

Come join us for a small-group play session at WSFP.

In order to serve as many people as possible, families will be limited to one visit per week. The program will be held outdoors, rain or shine, and will consist of 45 minutes of play followed by Circle Time. The upstairs washroom will be available, but the kitchen and playroom will remain closed.

Physical distancing will be practiced and masks are recommended for adults.

Tuesdays 10:00am-11:00am and 11:30-12:30pm
Thursdays 10:00 am to 11:00 am 11:30-12:30pm

Kits in the Park

We are excited to be launching the Kits in the Park program along with our friends at Kitsilano Neighbourhood House! Join us for outdoor family fun with a focus on play, movement, art and sensory exploration, and a Circle Time with stories and songs.

Monday to Friday 10:00am to 10:45am |11:15am to 12:00pm

Mama and Papa Goose for Parents with Babies (0-12 months)

Come meet other parents and their babies in a safe and cozy space. There’ll be songs, rhymes, and time to connect with other parents and their babies.

Wednesdays 10:30am to 11:30am

Mama and Papa Goose For Parents with Toddlers (up to 18 months)

Introduce your child to active living, learning and connection through movement and singing.

This Mama Papa Goose program is designed for active and mobile toddlers. Participate with your baby/ toddler, up to 18 months of age, where your child can move around and climb on toddler gym equipment, and sing and share stories at the circle time.

Mondays at 1:00 to 2:00 pm

Big Movement Play (for Ages 2-5 years)

Get ready to run, jump, skip, dance and play in this action packed class! In Big Movement Play, we will be focusing on building our physical literacy skills with lots of fun gross motor activities to engage all those growing muscles. Classes will be 45 mins in length and will include a warm up, themed “activities of the day” and a closing circle time and stretch.

This programs will be taught by Sarah Park who is a trained gymnastics coach with over 10 years of experience teaching physical activity classes.

Papa’s Playground

Registration is for a 6-week session.

Nobody’s Perfect at Family Place

This program allows parents to meet others with children birth to age 5, and with whom they share interests and concerns. Participants design their own agenda and through staff facilitated discussion, assistance, mutual support, encouragement and acceptance, parents can experience transformative growth with a goal to parenting with raised confidence. Maximum 6 participants.

Circle of Security

At times, all parents feel lost or simply unsure about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. Circle of Security Parenting Program can provide help and clarity.

Visit Family Place for a grab bag of open-ended and themed materials for arts and crafts to make at home!

Toy Lending Library

ON PAUSE FOR THE SUMMER

Every Thursday toy lending will be available by appointment by emailing info@westsidefamilyplace.com .

Thursdays, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

We will have our table set up under our stroller parking outside. There will be a curated selection of toys from our regular catalog of which families can choose from.

Toy Lending Library rules for the safety of our users and staff:

*You must be a West Side Family Place member – new families are welcome to sign up in person (membership fee applies)

*1 toy can be borrowed at one time for up to two weeks. If you need to extend, please let us know.

*Toys must be returned with all parts and pieces included as per picture and/or catalog description

*Please wash and sanitize the toy prior to returning. Family Place will also re-wash and sanitize before the next lend to ensure everyone’s safety

*If you or your child are feeling any symptoms of a cold, cough, fever or flu, please reconsider borrowing until 2 weeks after onset of symptoms

Mama Papa Goose Online Program (Babies 0-12 months)

PROGRAM ON PAUSE

Looking for a fun group experience for yourself and your baby? Looking for other parents to connect with?

This Mama Papa Goose program is a virtual group experience for parents with their babies focusing on the pleasure and power of using rhymes and songs. The pace is slow and relaxed with plenty of time to connect with other parents for casual discussion of issues and questions that arise. This is a nationally recognized Early Literacy Program.
